Horse owned by my bride's family's syndicate where I got naming rights for a change 🙂
The Tiger Army is in its first race on Friday 21/12 at Maryborough. Naturally, it's favourite.

Apologies for the tardiness @Vines, but WIN, WIN, WIN. Red hot favourite. We're thinking of calling the next one The Tiger Bandwagon so everyone can get on (Bride's family of 12 are mad Tiger supporters)
Love the call, "The Tiger Army is very impressive"
Ha ha ha bloody ripper. Congrats mate.

Fantastic! Yeah, great call 😀
The Tiger Army racing again in R1 at Kilmore on 3/1/19. And yes, it's the favourite again, will battle it out with "Youaremysunshine" who ran with it last time
Good price at 2.80 fixed odds in NSW

TTA wins again...though bittersweet victory as my bride's brother and part owner Pat Kelly passed away last night after a long battle with infections and operations. The caller paid tribute before and after the race to Pat and trainer/driver Laura wore a black armband. Emotional scenes with my in-laws when he crossed the line.
So sorry for your loss. At least there was a little happiness at a tough time.
Ooops. I forgot to relay that The Tiger Army was racing again a couple of weeks ago in Leeton...and it won again, odds-on favourite. It races again in Leeton on Tuesday night 29/1 in the Breeders Plate Final and is likely favourite again. Another filly of ours, Tiger Courage was scheduled to race as well at Leeton but has been scratched (presumably because of the heat and 2 hour plus float from Kialla)
I like the idea of a horse owned by a bunch of Kellys, trained in Shep and tearing them up from Kilmore to Leeton. Not Kellys from Karramomus I suppose?

No @Bones, they're from Cheltenham - Mentone, but one of them moved to Katunga years ago as a primary school teacher
Watched the Leeton run. Good win but at 1.45 I was looking on.

The reason I asked his because of this piece of Shep football trivia I ran across a few years ago:
KARRAMOMUS FOOTBALL
MATCH (Shep Advertiser, 9 Sept, 1918)
Written by Mr. J. J. Kelly about
40 years ago, to be sung to the tune
of "Tim Finnigan."
Come all you lads both young and old
Who love at football for to play,
My story will be shortly told
If you'll attention to me pay.
It's of a famous football match
Where Karramomus won renown,
Geelong and Carlton weren't a patch
To the game that was played at Miepoll town.
The Shepparton boys resolved one day,
The Karramomus players to meet,
And show those country muffs some play,
Between the bridge and Stevens street.
A crowd assembled on the ground,
The girls were all dressed out so gay,
And the cockies all for miles around
Determined to have a holiday.
We had Brodericks, Hurley, and Bakers Joe,
Quinlan Mick, and Telford Ted;
Johnny Connors and Bill Keogh,
Nugent Jim and Roberts Fred.
Danaher, Donovan and Martin Grady,
Barrys three, and Kelly John,
And Donald Patterson with us played
J. M'Nay and Hurley Con.
'Twas on July the 31st,
It being a fine and pleasant day;
But the Karramomus ball--it burst
Shortly after we started play.
Then the play was quickly stopped,
Some said the game was up a tree
But the Shepparton ball, it then was dropped.
And away they go right gallantly
'Twas J. M'Nay that won the toss,
He being the captain, you must know,
So we kicked with the wind that blew across,
Right in the face of Captain Rowe.
To the Shepparton end the ball was taken
In spite of all their efforts brave,
Although their men good play were making,
Trying hard their goal to save.
First goal was scored for Karramomus,
Connors here lie showed some play.
Around the waist he slung his man,
Thus for Ted Telford cleared the way.
Our men now played well up together,
Shepparton too, they worked like bricks,
Then Jim Nugett marked the leather
And sent it flying through the sticks.
"Forward boys, now roll them over,
Mark your men," our captain cries.
Some were rolling in the clover
And some had mud kicked ill their eyes.
No. 2 for the eSven Creeks,
While the rival team in vain did toil,
One of the players near lost his bricks -
Which caused the ladies for to smile.
Shirts were rent antd. guernseys tattered,
Needles called for by the score;
Shins were kicked and Tibs were battered,
Next day we felt them rather sore.
The game now stood at five to one,
When the umpire timle did call;
'Twas the Karramomus team that won,
So now I think I've told you all.
Three cheers-for them we did defeat,
For they are jolly fellows all.
Three cheers for the boys who were never beat,
Success to all who play Football.

How appropriate! R6 tonight, equal favourite!
Unbelievable! I thought we were gone after it got whacked and broke. And the superlatives from the commentator are just gold - "What an effort by The Tiger Army"
